(Christine Webb) -- A study done by the Harvard School of Public Health found that people with higher levels of vitamin D in their blood were at a lower risk for developing MS.

Vitamin D is found naturally in foods such as milk, cheese and fish and can be produced by exposure to sunlight. The study's authors warn that increased vitamin D will lower a person's risk of developing MS but may not actually prevent the disease.

Brain exercise can have long-lasting benefits for seniors, even if done in brief sessions. Researchers studied people who were an average of 73 years old. They found that just ten sessions helped the seniors keep their brains sharp for at least five years.

The brain training involved hour-long classes and included exercises done on a computer. Other research has shown that brain-teasing tasks such as crossword puzzles and reading help keep the mind sharp as people age.

Must be 19 to Buy Cigarettes in Syracuse

The legal age to buy cigarettes in the Syracuse area is being raised to 19 in 2007.

Onondaga County lawmakers passed a law to raise the age on April 1.

It's part of an effort to keep 18-year-olds from buying cigarettes for their younger classmates.

County officials say smokers eventually develop health problems and become a burden on taxpayers.

Suffolk and Nassau Counties on Long Island have also raised the tobacco age limit to 19, along with four states: Alabama, Alaska, New Jersey, and Utah.
