Korean tobacco giant has opened its first oversea tobacco plant in Turkey, so enlarging its business territory and capital. Korean Tobacco & Ginseng (KT&G) has big plans because the new factory is a gateway to many international tobacco markets, such as Bulgaria, Iran and Spain. These states are focal band for KT&G to develop its tobacco business, according to a company spokesperson.

At the opening ceremony, company`s chief executive Kwak Young Kyoon said that company plans to produce two cigarette brands. Here can be added for openers because it is known Korean Tobacco is a giant in tobacco producing and it can be presupposed that list of brand will de enlarged shortly. KT&G is the largest tobacco company of South Korea. This cigarette giant deals with almost 40 countries and sells 100 billion cigarettes a year.

The plant with producing capacity of 2 billion cigarettes a year will dispatch 60% of its tobacco products to Eastern and Middle Eastern countries, mainly to Iran, Bulgaria, Hungary and Spain.

Chief executive asserted that the company spent nearly 50 million USD for the plant. Company’s objective for this year is to control 3 percent of market share in Turkey, and aims at 5 percent market share within the next three years.

KT&G deals also with ginseng, pharmaceutical and real estate sectors.
